The most fabled jyotirlinga,Kedarnath
is one of holiest shrines of Hinduism. It is also one of the four sites which make up the Chhota Char
Dham pilgrimage circuit of Uttarakhand, along with Badrinath, Gangotri and
Yamunotri.
With the snow-clad mountains,
forests and mesmerizing views, Kedarnath is a must-have spiritual experience.
Each year, thousands of Hindu pilgrims flock to the temple to seek penance and
blessings of Lord Shiva.
Kedarnath, the temple and town,
also bore the brunt of nature’s fury, but the shrine survived the testing
times. The survival story varies among people. Some say a massive boulder
blocked the path of the water and saved the temple from being destroyed to
nothingness. After the flooding of 2013, a few cracks did appear in the left
and front walls. A door was damaged, but the temple stands firm – proof of the
technical rigor of the talented architects. Miracle or just great architecture,
Kedarnath jyotirlinga withstood the fury and continues to attract the devout to the day.
Kedarnath, a visual treat and a
spiritual feast for the soul is the part of a Coffee table Book by Trinetra.
